Passage: Genesis 9:1-17 Speaker: Pastor Lukus Counterman Series: Beginning - Genesis 1-12

Length: 49 mins 53 secs Plays: 3892

Speaker: Lukus Counterman - After the great judgment and destruction involved in the flood, some people might think that life is worthless to God.  But God’s commandments to and covenant with Noah in (Genesis 9:1-17) show that the contrary is true.  God has a high regard for life. After the flood he established a new order with the blessing of fruitfulness and the prohibition of taking another person’s life.  He promised never to destroy every living creature again by such a flood and he gave the rainbow as a sign and reminder of this gracious covenant. God holds life as sacred and valuable.  He commands mankind not to abuse it, and he personally promises to protect it.  A covenant of peace reigns over this new era in which humanity has the responsibility to take life seriously.  The overarching message is one of peace and preservation – mankind must perpetuate and protect life because it is precious to God.
