Speaker: Lukus Counterman - If the gospel was like coffee, the book of Philippians would be a triple shot espresso. It would be strong and concentrated. No other book of the Bible has such a high frequency of the word “gospel.” It’s as though Paul was wrapped up in it. He says it over and over again. Notice how in the first chapter alone he uses the word “gospel” 6 times (Phil. 1:5,7,12,16, 27). Now the gospel was probably on the tip of Paul’s tongue because while imprisoned in Rome, he reflected upon the ministry in Macedonia, specifically the city of Philippi. Almost a decade earlier, God had called him to “preach the gospel to them” (Acts 16:10). It all started at the riverbank where a prayer meeting was being held, and the gospel continued to spread even to the city’s innermost prison. The Gospel was powerfully changing people and a church was being established. When we consider God’s great work in the church by means of the gospel, how should we respond? When we look back and see the things God has wrought what should we do? Here at the one-year anniversary of Gospel Grace Church, let’s seek to answer those questions. God has done great things! So how should we respond?
