Speaker: Lukus Counterman - Have you ever met a person who was passionate about something? I’m not talking about liking something, appreciating something, or even enjoying something. I’m talking about passion. It’s far deeper and more consuming. A person’s passion preoccupies them. It grips them. A person’s passion defines what they care deeply about. It’s what they’re willing to sacrifice for and what they long to share with others. Now people are passionate about all kinds of things, but have you ever wondered what Jesus was passionate about? What was Christ willing to sacrifice for? What did he want to share with others? In Matthew 16:13-20, we find that Jesus was passionate about his Church. He boldly declared that he would build it and nothing would prevail against it. That promise has offered courage and strength for thousands of years. To all those who have followed the Savior and invested their lives into his Church, take heart – it cannot fail!
